BUILDING & CONSTRUCTION
Base
All cabins require a flat level Base. We recommend a concrete
slab. For the smaller models in the range up to and including
the Cabin 70 model a 4 inch deep concrete base is sufficient.
For the larger models such as the Cabin 80, Cabin
100 and the 110 a 6 inch deep reinforced concrete base should
be utilised.
Planning
Planning permission is not required for our smaller cabins
providing that they are under four meters in height and that
the cabins is 5 meters from rear wall of you house and it
does not take up more than half your garden area that includes
any other sheds/greenhouses also. If you are on a corner plot
the cabin can not go past the line of the house any near the
road than the house with out planning permission. This should
not be a problem with most cabins under and including the
Cabin 80.
For our larger cottages such as the Cabin 100/110, Robjohns
34 and the lodge house you will probably need planning permission
as they are above 4 meters in height. A significant amount
of planning authorities regard timber buildings as having
a low impact on the environment. It is always wise to check
with your local authority.
Treatment
Cabins come untreated and will need to be treated ASAP. They
will need to be treated with a micro pour us wood stain. We
recommend using Jotun wood stain as this can be guaranteed
for up to 12 years.
Cabins include:
Doors and windows all pre hung and glazed.
All nails screws, fixings, handles and door lock.
Roofing felt. Unless you have gone for the felt shingles.
Pre assembled gables.
Pressure treated bearers.
Detailed instructions.
Hot tubs
If the cabin is going to be used to house a hot tub ample
ventilation should be provided to reduce the moisture in the
cabin. This also applies if you are going to fit a shower
or any other source of moisture.
We recommend you consider using the sauna cabin or the grill
2 cabin. If you use the Grill / barbeque cabin you will not
have to worry about ample ventiation as you have 2 sides that
are fully open you can put blinds on the open sides if you
want more privacy.
Tiling
The Cabin 70 model and larger can take slate tiles. If
you would like the look of tiles on the smaller models we
can arrange for them to be fitted with the felt shingles which
look like tiles.
Double doors
Double doors can be fitted into the 70 model without removing
the window in the front.
